                                                                                Final Reflection

My motivation is based on why I came back to school in the first place, I was searching for peace

of mind, my passion, and to become a trained artist. The edge program gave me an opportunity to help relies my goal. This project was just what I needed, and to do a project that I could use so many different art, and educational disciplines is a “master card”.

The steps were complicated, since I used ceramics as a media. The first piece “blew up in the kiln”, (sorta) and I had to resort to plan B. Plan B was successful, but this project took twice as long to accomplish.  I relied on my mentors heavily for technical advice. Starting from wet clay to decorating, to the two firings took a month and a half, to complete.

My first goal was to do something to thank CAPS. I also wanted to use other class experiences to incorporate into the art piece. I have to mention that this project, was the final step in my bereavement process. I will never fully get over my loss, but I have found peace with my loss.

I have gone to CAPS several time, and I can’t help to think to myself, that the peace and the edge project is “BAD ASS”. YES, and THANK U CAPS, AND EDUCATION DESIGNED TO GIVE EXPERIENCE.

Caps has given me hope that I can get over my loss, and if it has done this for me, it will do it for others. My main goal was to thank CAPS, and to help with a relaxing setting. I hope other student will use CAPS, and not fill uncomfortable.

I used skills that I have learned through the Art Department, (thanks SUSAN, RUSSELL, YIDON, AND QINGPING) I picked up some calligraphy skills doing this doing this project. The skills that I used varies from ceramics, sculpture, painting, calligraphy, and Chinese language. To be able to incorporate all these skills, is the true meaning of EDUCATION DESIGNED TO GIVE EXPERIENCE.

I’m pretty much a prima donna, and to be honest I thought that this program was not for me. What a dummy I am. This program was set up for me, and I would like to think “now for me alone”. The process in which this program put me through, was very beneficial, for me becoming a better artist, and human being.
