THANK YOU

COUNSELING AND PYSCALOGICAL SERVICES

My art piece is being displayed at CAPS location Center St. of Cedar City, UT (across the Street from SUMA) but on November 10, 2016 I will debut my platter.

I wanted to make an Art piece for caps, to help set a relaxing mood for all students who go there. As a ceramic major I have access to SUU’s ceramic studio’s, and my mentors (Susan Harris and Russell Wrankle) help and advices me. I mixed my own clay, “adding wood ash for extra funk”. I painted local flowers, with colored slips and in Chinese I put a poem on this piece. The whole idea for doing this piece was to thank the hard working counselors who have helped so many, of my fellow students at SOUTHERN UTAH UNIVERSITY.

On May 18, 2009 my wife had massive stroke with took her life, and took life as I know it away. I struggled for years with this loss, and the loss of my passion. Coming to SUU was a life changing event, and it also gave me the opportunity to speak with a psychological counselor, and attend bereavement group. While in the bereavement group I challenged to do something that would help me in the healing process. I have been taking Art classes and a Chinese language class, I made my Art piece using these experiences.

Ardith Fish is attending SUU working on a BS ART degree in ceramic/sculpture Art. I could not have done this piece without the help of SUU visual Art department, my Chinese painting professor YIDON, MY Chinese language professor DR. LIU. And Susan and Russell.

You can find me at the ceramic studio, and at ardithfish@gmail.com

Have you seen my Passion?
