Project Overview
My project consist of making a ceramic sculptural installation wall Art piece, using principles of Chinese Painting, (painting, poetry, stamps , and calligraphy), and modern art, (expressionism). While I was attending the caps bereavement group, I was challenged to do something to help me understand the emotions I was feeling. I wrote a poem about my wife, and while taking Chinese Painting, my teacher Translated it into chinese and wrote down the characters. Using the Principles of Chinese court painting, I have chosen Flowers as the main motive, and using my translated poem as the main vocal point. I bring it all together using modern expressionist found art principles, I will achieve my desired effect. This sculptural piece will be made in the ceramic studio, and I will be seeking advice from both my ceramic, and sculpture instructors. My material cost will be very low, because I have already scrounged up all the materials I need, I’ll just need a small miscellaneous budget.
Larger Purpose My larger purpose is to help CAPS give us students a relaxed, comfortable environment.
Project Goal My goal using Art is to help revived SUU students anxieties. My choice to seek Caps help, was a very hard decision, it took several attempts just to walk through the door. If in a small way, if I can ease any anxieties, or even help give solace, i will have achieved my goal.
1-3 Outcome(s) Art usually has a calming effect. Through Art I hope to help student to feel good about seeking a psychological counseling. There are students right now who won’t use this service, for whatever reason. My main goal is to, in a small way, change this culture.
Deliverable(s) I will be using my Artist notebook, to put down all ideas and my teacher comments. The Artistic process will be thoroughly documented. And after a long and complicated process, I will seek the help of some of the SUMA students to help me install the piece.
Differentiation I believe at this level we are all artist, with wonderful purpose. I hope that by taking all those artistic principles, that I have mention above, that I will stand out with this different and original work.
